SAFE To Hold Safety Forums, Simulator Training In San Marcos, TX

Pilot Proficiency Project Held In October In Conjunction With Redbird Flight Simulations

In partnership with Redbird Flight Simulations, the Society of Aviation and Flight Educators (SAFE) will present its first regional Pilot Proficiency Project at Skyport in San Marcos, TX on October 26-27. The Project brings valuable proficiency training to pilots by combining relevant safety forums, challenging simulator training sessions, food, and camaraderie.

Forums at Skyport will be presented by some of the country’s top aviation educators, including Master Instructors, National CFIs of the Year, and noted subject matter experts such as Doug Stewart, Rich Stowell, Tony Johnstone, and Kay Sundaram Greenfield. The Project will include a moderated panel on “iPad Best Practices for Flight Planning” featuring representatives from Foreflight, Garmin, iFlightPlanner, and WingX Pro. Ten different simulator scenarios co-developed by SAFE instructors and the Redbird team will be available in Redbird simulators.

The fee-based Project offers benefits to participating pilots such as WINGS credit for those enrolled in the FAA WINGS program, and Accident Forgiveness to qualifying pilots by Starr Aviation. Pilots flying to Skyport can purchase 100LL for $1.00 per gallon as well, and those who register online before October 20th receive ten percent off the full registration fee. Additionally, SAFE will host a dinner for its members and other interested parties on October 26th followed by an interactive discussion on “The Art of Teaching in the Cockpit.”

Conceived by SAFE in 2010, the Pilot Proficiency Project is a cooperative effort between SAFE, Redbird Flight Simulations, Starr Aviation, Sennheiser Aviation, and other strategic partners. The Project makes forums and simulator training sessions available at aviation venues across the U.S. to address key safety of flight issues of interest to VFR and IFR pilots alike.
