Plane Strikes Moving Truck During Landing Approach

Two Injured In Accident Near Feilding, New Zealand

In an apparent case of "wrong place, wrong time" ... a plane on approach for landing at Taonui Airfield near Feilding, New Zealand struck a piece of earth-moving equipment being transported on a trailer behind a truck, resulting in the injury of the two people on board the airplane.

The online site Stuff.co.nz reports that the equipment, which was referred to as a "digger", was being towed on Campbell Road near the airport when the accident occurred. Witnesses said some wreckage from the plane was scattered on the road, while the fuselage and wings landed on the runway at the airport.

The woman pilot and her passenger, described as a man in his 20s, both survived the accident. Authorities said that they were both transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.
