Bill Boeing Jr. To Attend Vintage Aircraft Weekend

Flying Boeing Model 40 Will On Display At The Event

Bill Boeing Jr. credits the Model 40 as being the airplane that saved his father's company from bankruptcy during the Great Depression, a message he will bring to the 4th Annual Vintage Aircraft Weekend at Paine Field in Snohomish County, WA, Saturday.

Model 40 And 787

There is currently one flying example of the Model 40C, and it will be on display at the airfield during the event. HeraldNet.com reports that Bill Boeing Jr. will talk about the Model 40 at the event held a Paine Field in Everett, WA. Organizers say there will be about 50 aircraft on display, including a Grumman F4F Wildcat and a B-25D Mitchell Bomber. Civilian aircraft will include a Beech Staggerwing. Some modern military aircraft will also be on the ramp.

The Model 40 is owned by Spokane-area resident and self-described aviation buff Addison Pemberson. He restored the aircraft to flying condition a few years ago, and will join Boeing on the stage to talk about his unique airplane. He is also scheduled to make a demonstration flight Saturday afternoon.

The event drew about 5,000 people last year. (Image Courtesy Boeing)
