OP Technologies Confirms Work On STC For EFIS Installation In SR22s

Prototype Pegasus IAS Now Flying Onboard Test Bed

OP Technologies recently told ANN the avionics manufacturer is pursuing a Supplemental Type Certificate for EFIS installation in Cirrus SR22s, and the company hopes to win its STC in the near future.

The Pegasus Integrated Avionics System, or Pegasus IAS, is a new product based on the OP Integrated product line currently available for experimental aircraft. It contains an integrated avionics suite including remotely mounted radios, transponder and WAAS/GPS, controlled through 10.4" display units.

OP Technologies tells ANN the company obtained a 2003 Cirrus SR22 in 2005, and retrofitted the aircraft with a prototype version of Pegasus IAS to demonstrate the installation and begin early flight, ground and field operation testing. The company has since shown the aircraft at Lakeland, Oshkosh and other fly-ins. OP Technologies began offering an experimental version of Pegasus this year, most recently to two customers building a Velocity and a Lancair IV.

The company formally applied for the SR22 STC in September 2006, and is currently working with the Seattle ACO on a combined TSO/STC program for Pegasus IAS.

OP Technologies says it has deliberately guarded information about the program until certification is complete.
