Paper Airplane 'Toss' Enhances Anti-Drug Message

Saturday's "Big Game" In Green Bay

Okay, so the Packers aren't in Sunday's Big Game, just like 30 other NFL teams, but Green Bay fans had the opportunity Saturday to travel to Lambeau Field anyway, for what can only be called The Great Paper Airplane Toss.

Now in it second year, families were invited to stop by and throw paper airplanes from the second level walkway onto the floor of the Lambeau Field Atrium. Students were given one free airplane throw, but could make additional tosses at 25 cents per plane.

The event is sponsored by the Green Bay Area Partners in Educating Drug Alliance's "Fight Against Drugs." The Alliance raises funds to sponsor post-prom, grad-night, and other alcohol-free family activities in the ten area school districts.

Not to be left out of the fun, it is expected that adults will join the fun and produce their own customized paper airplane, for the same 25 cents. Materials were provided to would-be paper airplane designers and there were volunteers to help the folding-challenged.

Paper airplanes were judged on distance and accuracy in six age groups and prizes of US Saving Bonds awarded in all age groups.

For those who want to try this at home, we suggest Googling "paper airplane" and learning how to do it from the experts. Afterall, you don't want to run the risk of downing a pet or a lamp with a poorly designed paper airplane, do you?
