Gulfstream G280 Arrived At ABACE With New City-Pair Records

Super Mid-Size Aircraft Links Europe, Middle East And Asia

Gulfstream’s G280 continues to set speed records, with the latest en route to the 2014 Asian Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (ABACE) in Shanghai. The super mid-size aircraft established two city-pair records between Germany, Dubai and Hong Kong, bringing the total record number to 47.

“Already this year, the G280 has made record runs from North America through the Asia-Pacific region, the Middle East, Africa and Europe,” said Scott Neal, senior vice president, Worldwide Sales and Marketing, Gulfstream. “These latest records coming into ABACE are a testament to the G280’s dominance of its class and how quickly and reliably it can connect major markets around the world.”

The G280 flew 2,751 nautical miles from Friedrichshafen Airport in Germany to Dubai International Airport in the United Arab Emirates at an average speed of Mach 0.84 for a total flight time of 5 hours and 49 minutes.

From Dubai, the aircraft flew to Hong Kong International Airport, traveling 3,449 nm at an average speed of Mach 0.82 in 7 hours and 7 minutes.

“The Gulfstream G280 was designed to save time with its long-range capability and short-range efficiency,” said Dan Nale, senior vice president, Programs, Engineering and Test, Gulfstream. “These records once again prove the aircraft’s superior performance capabilities bolstered by its advanced wing, airframe and powerful engines.”

Pending approval by the U.S. National Aeronautic Association, these records will be sent to the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale in Switzerland for recognition as world records.

The G280 entered service on Nov. 14, 2012. Since then, Gulfstream has delivered more than 25 G280 aircraft to customers. The G280 fleet has more than 11,000 flight hours and over 6,400 landings. The fleet leaders have accumulated more than 1,000 flight hours and over 670 landings.
