NBAA Announces Recipients Of 2014 Leadership Conference Scholarships

Individuals Will Be Recognized At Leadership Conference, Feb. 19 And 20

Three individuals have been selected by the NBAA's Corporate Aviation Management Committee as recipients of the 2014 Leadership Conference Scholarship.

Each scholarship includes a value equivalent to $1,845 to cover expenses associated with attendance at NBAA’s 2014 Leadership Conference, taking place on Feb. 19 and 20 in Atlanta, GA. The Leadership Conference is designed for current and future leaders in every facet of the business aviation industry – both aircraft operators and vendors who provide products and services within the industry.

This year’s scholarship winners are:

  • Eric Wenner – A senior at St. Cloud State University in St. Cloud, MN, Wenner is majoring in professional flight, has a commercial pilot license with more than 260 hours and is working on his CFI. Wenner wants to work in business aviation for a Fortune 500 company and become a manager.
  • Arthur (AJ) Ramey – Ramey is a flight instructor at Birmingham Flight Center in Birmingham, AL. He has created and also worked with Angel Flight in Alabama and coordinates all public relations activities and recruiting with them. A graduate of the University of Alabama, he wants to become a business aviation flight department manager and earn his Certified Aviation Manager (CAM) credential.
  • LeVere Smith – An owner advocate of Jet Advocates, LLC in Ithaca, NY, Smith was previously a chief inspector at a FAR 145 repair station with Taughannock Aviation in Ithaca, NY. Also with Taughannock Aviation, he has been a director of maintenance for the Part 135 operations. Smith served in the U.S. Air Force and is working toward earning his CAM credential.

The Leadership Conference Scholarship, now in its 10th year, is sponsored in 2014 by Business Aviation Solutions, LLC, ExcelAire LLC and United Technologies. Representatives from each of these companies will be on hand at the NBAA Leadership Conference to recognize this year’s recipients.
