BRS Aerospace has documented the 400th and 401st life saved as a result of deploying the company's whole aircraft parachute rescue system. The milestone 400th and 401st lives were saved March 5, 2019 when the pilot of a stricken Cirrus deployed the parachute over water more than 20 miles from Grand Turk Island in the Turks and Caicos. Both pilot and passenger were not injured and picked up by a cruise ship. The 30th annual Women in Aviation International conference gets underway Thursday in Long Beach, CA. Thousands of women from all over the world who work in all aspects of aviation – from airline pilots to astronauts, from aviation historians to military pilots, engineers, air traffic controllers and more are expected to attend. Two women are scheduled to participate in a seven-hour spacewalk aboard the ISS at the end of the month, and the EVA will mark the first time such an operation is undertaken with an all-female crew. NASA spokeswoman Stephanie Schierholz says that, "As currently scheduled, the March 29 spacewalk will be the first with only women. It is the second in a series of three planned spacewalks. Anne also will join Nick Hague for the March 22 spacewalk. And, of course, assignments and schedules could always change." All this -- and MORE in today's episode of Airborne!!!
