Baggage Handler In Minneapolis-St. Paul Caught Stealing From Passengers

Reportedly Stole About $84,000 Worth Of Other People's Belongings

Here we go with another story about someone deep on the bowels of an airport pilfering other people's stuff. David Vang, a 23-year-old baggage handler working at the Minneapolis - St. Paul airport in Minnesota, has been arrested and charged with stealing some $84,000 worth of items from bags traveling through the airport. He has been charged with 11 counts of felony theft.

ABC News reports that Vang was seen on video tape taking items from passenger's bags and stuffing them into his backpack over an eight-month period. He is said to have stolen everything from guns to jewelry. And an ABC News Analyst said it is "difficult" to prevent such thefts from happening. He said that baggage handler's access to luggage when no one is watching can just be too tempting for some people to resist.

In another incident last week, a Delta Airlines employee used his employee badge to bypass a security checkpoint at JFK airport for a flight to Orlando. He was denied access to the secured area because he did not have a boarding pass to show TSA at the checkpoint.

Marcilino Aponte managed to board his flight even though TSA said they responded within nine minutes of learning of the breech. The 31-year-old managed to get to Orlando, but he was detained after the flight landed.
