Another Bright Light In The Night

Commercial Aircraft Lit Up By Laser Near Nashville

Yet another civilian aircraft has been lit up by potentially dangerous lasers -- this one on a flight from Nashville to Chicago.

The cockpit crew of a United Airlines flight with about 30 passengers on board reported seeing a bright green light aimed at them shortly after take-off, according to a spokeswoman for the airline.

That crew joined others in places like Cleveland, Washington, DC, Houston, Colorado Springs, Medford and Teterboro. as having seen the light.

The danger, of course, is that flight crews lit up by bright lasers at night could be blinded or disoriented, leading to catastrophic loss of control of the aircraft.

Monday, ANN reported a New Jersey man had been detained and question about his use of a laser near Teterboro Airport.

The man and his lawyer told authorities he was just showing his daughter the new laser pointer he bought her.

The Nashville-Chicago flight landed at O'Hare International without incident. The nationwide investigation -- and the search for suspects -- continues.
