Florida Fish & Wildlife Buys Cessna Caravan

Small Resource Protection Fleet Gains Fixed-Wing Turboprop

Cessna’s Caravan is the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission’s newest selection for its airborne fleet. 

The Caravan will join a pair of Bell 505s once they are delivered to the FWC after a purchase earlier this year. The Caravan has remained popular as a reliable, dependable, rugged utility aircraft, better than ever after years of refinement. Textron, Cessna’s parent company, made the sale earlier this week for a single aircraft, outfitted with a standard suite of  Caravan features like its 675 hp PT6A-114A turbine engine and glass panel avionics. 

The Fish and Wildlife Division manages state resources throughout all of Florida, responsible for patrol and investigative law enforcement services over more than 8,400 miles of coastline, 13,200 square miles of offshore waters, and more than 34 million acres of wilderness. That wide span of terrain makes the C208 an attractive solution that can cram as many missions as possible into one airframe. 

“The Cessna Caravan is a proven platform for public safety agencies around the world,” said Bob Gibbs, vice president, Special Mission Sales. “The multi-mission Caravan destined for the FWC will aid in protecting Florida’s natural resources and human life through proactive and responsive law enforcement services.”
