Game-Changing AEA2014 Sponsor Mid-Continent Instruments and Avionics!

Mid-Continent Instruments and Avionics Marks 50 Years of Industry Leadership and Innovation

For half of a century, Mid-Continent Instruments and Avionics has been an industry leader in the overhaul/exchange, repair, design and manufacturing of aircraft instruments and avionics.

MCIA's 50th Anniversary

Today, Mid-Continent supports a global dealer network and employs 200 people in two locations: Wichita, Kansas and Van Nuys, California. With the skilled expertise to overhaul nearly 6,000 different products, Mid-Continent operates one of the largest instrument overhaul and exchange programs in the world, supporting a customer base that includes Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), Fixed Base Operators (FBOs), instrument and avionics shops, flight schools and government agencies.

The company manufactures more than 20,000 units per year and processes more than 15,000 units in its overhaul/exchange and repair operation, including gyros, altimeters, HSIs and autopilot systems.

Mid-Continent designed products are found in most Cessna-built airplanes; Beechcraft’s Bonanza, Baron, and King Air; Cirrus, Diamond, Piper, DAHER-SOCATA, de Havilland, Robin, Schweizer, Nextant, Aviat/Husky, Evektor, Mooney, Maule, Air Tractor, Vulcanair, and Quest aircraft; as well as Eurocopter, Robinson, Bell, Boeing, Airbus, and MD helicopters; McDonnell Douglas T-45; Tecnam; Voyager; and SpaceShipOne.

Mid-Continent Instruments and Avionics’ 2-inch Standby Attitude Module — SAM® — Adds Part 23 AML STC to Growing List of Certifications

MCIA SAM

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has granted a Part 23 Approved Model List (AML) Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for the MD302 Standby Attitude Module (SAM®). The AML STC joins a growing list of existing Part 23, 25 and 27 STCs, ranging from single engine pistons to advanced twin turboprops, light business jets and rotorcraft.

SAM will be on display at booth #421 March 12–15 at the AEA International Convention and Trade Show in Nashville, Tennessee.

True Blue Power® Announces First Ever TSO-Certified Lithium-Ion Main Ship Battery

True Blue Power TB17

True Blue Power® announced the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Technical Standard Order (TSO) C179a and European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) European Technical Standard Order (ETSO) certification of the TB17 Advanced Lithium-ion Battery. The TB17 is the first lithium-ion engine start battery for business and commercial aviation to receive either certification.

The TB17 is designed primarily for light turbine and piston aircraft. At 16 pounds, it offers a 45 percent weight savings compared to older, lead-acid and nickel-cadmium alternatives.

The 17-ampere hour battery’s lithium-ion cells offer superior energy density, delivering 3 times the energy per kilogram when compared to lead acid. The TB17 is engineered to provide an overall lower cost of ownership with 50 – 75% less scheduled maintenance cost, resulting from increased durability, 2-year maintenance intervals, efficient engine starts and gaining 2 – 3x longer useful battery life.

The TB17 Advanced Lithium-ion Battery will be on display at booth #421 March 12–15 at the AEA International Convention and Trade Show in Nashville, Tennessee.

The True Blue Power® TA102 Dual USB Charging Port Delivers More Power With Less Hassles

True Blue Power TA102

The self-contained TA102 Dual USB Charging Port simultaneously provides 2.1 amps / 5 volts of True Blue Power per charging port. The TA102 powers consumer products with a USB interface, including electronic flight bags, tablets, iPads, cell phones and GPS devices. Units are small, economical and easy to install, and now available in lighted and non-lighted versions. Happy pilots. Happy passengers.

The TA102 Dual USB charging port will be on display at booth #421 March 12–15 at the AEA International Convention and Trade Show in Nashville, Tennessee.

True Blue Power® Announces New 250-Watt Inverter

True Blue Power TI250

The True Blue Power® TI250 DC-to-AC Inverter provides 250 watts of clean, regulated, ‘wall outlet’ power from the aircraft’s 28 VDC input. The TI250 supplies power to the cabin and/or the cockpit and is ideal for powering laptops, iPads, tablets, chargers and special missions equipment.

The compact, 2.2-pound inverter is highly efficient. Engineered with a built-in ground fault interrupter (GFI), the sophisticated, fanless design saves energy and reduces weight without the need for external cooling. The TI250 is a safe and lightweight power source for a wide variety of electronic devices.

The TI250 DC-to-AC Inverter will be on display at booth #421 March 12–15 at the AEA International Convention and Trade Show in Nashville, Tennessee.
