Ebay Bids Top $200K For Neil Armstrong’s Corvette

1967 Stingray Coupe Reportedly Owned By Astronaut

A 1967 Stingray coupe reportedly once owned by Neil Armstrong, the first man to walk on the moon is up for auction on Ebay. The seller says in the ad "This Corvette was delivered to Mr. Neil Armstrong the first man on the moon, on December 15, 1966 from Jim Rathman Chevrolet in Melbourne Florida under a program initiated by Mr. Rathman to provide our astronauts with a Corvette. They would keep the Corvette for a year and then turn it in and get a new one."

The What Sells Best website is reporting that the seller purchased the car from a NASA employee in February 2012 after a 30-year effort. The previous owner bought the car from a dealership in Florida after Mr. Armstrong traded it in. It is powered by a 390hp 427 cubic inch V8, with a four-speed manual transmission.  It had been reportedly kept in a "climate controlled environment" and not driven since 1981.

The car has a reserve of $250,000, which as of this writing has not yet been met, but the auction doesn't end until midday Sunday.
