Expanded WomenVenture Planned For EAA AirVenture 2013

Group Lunch Planned To Follow The Annual Photo Shoot In Phillips 66 Plaza

WomenVenture, Women in Aviation, International’s collaborative program with EAA, is now in its sixth successful year and will be expanded during this year’s EAA AirVenture with a group lunch. WomenVenture is both a networking resource for women AirVenture attendees and a marketing outreach to attendees who are interested in becoming more involved in aviation.

"WomenVenture is better than summer camp!” says WAI President Dr. Peggy Chabrian. "It not only gives women visibility at EAA AirVenture, but provides inspiration, information and just plain fun for the hundreds of women who participate.”

WomenVenture 2013 officially begins on Friday, August 2 from 8:00 am – 9:00 am, when Women in Aviation, International will hold its annual Connect Breakfast for members and their friends, sponsored by DTC Duat, in the Nature Center Pavilion with special guests including a contingent of WASP.

After the Connect Breakfast, WomenVenture participants will assemble at 10:30 a.m. for the annual group photo in Phillips 66 Plaza. "This extended family photo is an AirVenture tradition for us,” says Dr. Chabrian. "WomenVenture participants are given a t-shirt to identify themselves so this year we will have a sea of raspberry colored t-shirts on women of all ages.”

WomenVenture expands this year with a group lunch, following the photo shoot for all WomenVenture participants. The women will go from Phillips 66 Plaza to the Theatre in the Woods for lunch, sponsored by EAA. Invited lunch speakers include Amanda Wright Lane, great-grandniece of Orville and Wilbur Wright and a trustee for the Wright Family Fund of the Dayton Foundation; Sherry Carbary, Vice President of Flight Services at Boeing; and Nagin Cox, Mission Operations Flight Team for NASA's Mars Science Laboratory.

“This lunch expands WomenVenture to a full day of activity to bring women together to share a unique experience at AirVenture,” says Dr. Chabrian. “We applaud EAA’s support of WomenVenture and its commitment to reach out to all segments of aviation.”
