Elixir Aircraft Make Deal for 6 Aircraft to French Flight Academy

Mermoz Academy Opts for Domestic Trainer Plane for Future Euro Pilots

Elixir Aircraft has completed another sale to a local European flight school, issuing half a dozen new aircraft to Mermoz Academy.

The school, established in 1997, The new aircraft are intended to provide Mermoz with an attractive, modern aircraft suited to flight training in today’s market. While Elixir is always happy to point to “reduced carbon emissions and operating costs” for its new light aircraft, many French flight schools in the region probably make their way into the company’s base of clientele for a much simpler reason: They want to support a wholly domestic manufacturer. Elixir remains an underdog in the worldwight LSA market, only recently hiring employee number 100. It helps that they’ve been able to offer a competitively attractive, well-sorted aircraft, too. Elixir’s next endeavor lies in the expansion of its factory at La Rochelle airport, where they plan to add 12,000 square meters of floor space to support the construction of additional aircraft.

All 6 of the 4th Gen Elixirs bound for Mermoz will be equipped with a full suite of glass panel Garmins, always a popular configuration with students and instructors alike. The final livery of the Mermoz aircraft was displayed at this year’s Aero Friedrischafen, where the first of the future delivery was presented to legions of prospective buyers. Future manufacturing will continue to improve in output and speed, helping the firm to become a home-grown, French answer to a market filled with foreign options.
