Diamond's HK36 Motorglider Returns To US Market

Great Lakes Dealership Sole US Distributor For Super Dimonas

Great Lakes Diamond Aircraft Sales, Inc. told ANN Thursday about the reintroduction of the Diamond HK36 Super Dimona Motorglider for US pilots.

Production of the motorglider in Austria has resumed following necessary improvements made to Diamond's production facility. Great Lakes Diamond is the exclusive US distributor for the HK36, which is also referred to as the "Xtreme".

"Known for it sleek look and world-class, high performance characteristics, this is no doubt the most fun airplane I have ever flown," said Andy James, President of Great Lakes Diamond Aircraft Sales. "You can motor along at close to 120K sipping gas 4 GPH, or just shut down the engine, glide for a while and enjoy the scenery at a 27/1 glide ratio.

"The wings fold for easy storage, you do not need a tow airplane to get this ship up in the air, it climbs at 1,000 fpm with either a normally aspirated Rotax 100hp engine or the turbocharged 115hp version," James continued. "You can also fly it during the winter months on a trip when most gliders, especially in the North are hangared for the winter.... It's the best of two worlds."

James noted the Super Dimona may also serve flight schools as a real-world engine-out trainer, as well as a unique, economical, and fun rental aircraft.
