Gogo Communicates The Excitement of OSH21 Like NO ONE Else Can!

Gogo AVANCE L5 and L3 Now Flying on 2,000 Business Aircraft

Gogo is the world's largest provider of broadband connectivity services for the business aviation market. We offer a customizable suite of smart cabin systems for highly integrated connectivity, inflight entertainment and voice solutions. Gogo's products and services are installed on thousands of business aircraft of all sizes and mission types from the personal jets (Cirrus G2+ Vision Jet), turboprops and light jets up to the largest global jets. It’s systems are utilized by the largest fractional ownership operators, charter operators, corporate flight departments and individuals.

Currently, there are more than 2,000 business aircraft flying with Gogo's AVANCE L5 or L3 system installed, and there are nearly 6,000 aircraft flying with its ATG systems onboard. Additionally, there are roughly 4,620 aircraft with satellite connectivity installed. Connect with us at business.gogoair.com.

Gogo achieved these milestones in less than four years following the first AVANCE L5 installation in October 2017, highlighting Gogo’s leadership in business aviation inflight connectivity and entertainment.

“The AVANCE L5 and L3 improved performance and functionality over our Classic ATG systems continue to thrill our customers and drive demand.,” said Sergio Aguirre, president of Gogo Business Aviation. “The need for quality connectivity has never been more important than it is today, and we don’t see that slowing down.”

The Gogo AVANCE L5 delivers a 4G experience to business aircraft of all types and sizes, from light jets to the largest global business jets, and provides an easy and fast upgrade path to Gogo 5G. AVANCE L3, which launched in January 2018, provides an excellent user experience that is customizable across three configurations and comes in a lightweight, smaller form factor than the L5, making it an ideal solution for smaller aircraft including turboprops and light jets.

AVANCE L5 and L3 inflight connectivity systems today are certified on virtually every aircraft make and model – from turboprops to large heavy iron ultralong-range airframes – direct from the factory or in the aftermarket.

Gogo 5G Progress Update

Gogo has completed several key milestones in its 5G air-to-ground (ATG) network and onboard equipment development.

Ground Network

Gogo installed the first two 5G antennas on a tower and the company has begun prototype testing of system performance. “Gogo 5G will be the fourth ATG nationwide network Gogo has designed and built,” said Dave Glenn, senior vice president of customer operations for Gogo. “Deploying this first ground site antenna and leveraging our unparalleled ATG experience over 28 years will enable us to validate our design for a smooth product and service launch.”

Onboard System

Gogo completed development of its 5G air card prototypes and recently completed coast-to-coast flight testing of its 5G belly-mounted antennas to validate their performance. Additionally, Gogo conducted a flight test and successfully established a connection between the 5G antennas on the aircraft and the 5G antennas on the ground tower.

“The tests we’ve conducted and successfully passed validate what we modeled when we initially announced we would build a 5G network,” said Mike Syverson, senior vice president of engineering for Gogo. “Through the testing we’ve done, we now know that Gogo 5G is going to be better than we originally thought it would be.”

Data Center

Gogo also successfully performed an end-to-end call using the Gogo 5G SIM card, from the onboard equipment to the cell site, through the data center to the internet, and back. “What we’ve done is validate that our systems can talk to one another,” Syverson said.

Gogo AVANCE L3 Becomes Factory Option on Cirrus G2+ Vision Jet

Cirrus Aircraft has selected Gogo Business Aviation’s AVANCE L3 system to be installed as a factory option on new production G2+ Vision Jet aircraft.

The G2+ Vision Jet is the first “Personal Jet” aircraft to add Gogo’s inflight connectivity service. Cirrus joins Gogo’s distinguished list of aircraft manufacturers that offer Gogo equipment from the factory, which includes all nine of the largest manufacturers of business aviation aircraft in the world.

“The need and desire to be connected in flight is not bound by aircraft size or aircraft mission – everyone who flies in their own aircraft deserves to have fast, reliable connectivity,” said Mark Sander, vice president of OEM sales for Gogo. “The AVANCE L3 is clearly the best solution for personal jet owners and operators who want, fast, reliable inflight connectivity on the most reliable network for aviation.”

Cirrus’s selection of the AVANCE L3 highlights the increasing desire for connectivity on aircraft of all sizes and mission types. The L3 delivers the power of the AVANCE platform in the lightest and smallest form factor available, enabling passengers and crew to be connected to email, browse the web, or access AVANCE L3’s other value-added features such as moving maps, news feeds, and flight information.

“Last year Gogo lowered its minimum service level from 10,000 feet AGL (above ground level) to 3,000 feet AGL which provides additional connectivity time to each flight,” Sander continued. “Today we’re seeing a trend where connectivity has become increasingly important on smaller aircraft such as light jets and turboprops.”

Launched in 2016, the Vision Jet defined a new category in aviation – the Personal Jet – with its spacious pilot and passenger-friendly cabin featuring panoramic windows, reclining seats, comfortable legroom for five adults and two children and the only turbine aircraft with a whole airframe parachute system as standard equipment. The G2+ Vision Jet is a versatile single-engine jet capable of adapting to the unique needs of business and personal travel missions.
