Wow... when we
published over 30 stories on April 1st, we figured it was something
of a record for us... until you folks started responding... and
several thousand emails later, it was obvious that you had a lot of
fun and set yet another record for response to a single day's
stories... though, in a few cases, only after you fell for some of
the gags, hook line and sinker. It was a record response to a
record day... and it sure looked like a good time was had by
all.
Among the many, many, MANY comments we received:
- What a marvelous idea to bring attention to aero-new.net. I
hope that you get lots of input and attention for your wonderfully
planned PR April first publication. Luv you guys...
- You did it again! Another hilarious issue, almost as funny as
some of the stuff published by the alphabet organizations the rest
of the year.
- You just get better and better every year! Love it -
especially the part about Phil Boyer!
- Great! Just effing GREAT! (Hey, if John Effing Kerry can use it
so can I!)
- Brilliant! However, there must have been a substantial number
of REALLY late nights, and some substance consumption involved
– all legal, of course, and no one went anywhere in any sort
of vehicle… Thanks for the “lift”
- Every day you produce the absolutely BEST news, but TODAY!
you've exceeded all expectations! I WANT a SkyStar Super Kitfox
Turbine!, but I'll wait for Jim's flight report.
- You know, it took me 3 stories to realize what the date was.
Great Job. I needed a good laugh.
- You guys are great! When I read the first story about Eclipse,
I said to myself, "that seems odd." Then I read the Phil
Boyer article and realized the date! My favorite was the Oshkosh
story. Cheeseburgers are already close to $55.00 as it is! Thanks
for brightening my day!
There's more... but you get the idea. We thank you greatly for
joining us for this annual spoof issue and assure you that we have
even greater ambitions for coming years... even on days when we
have to be serious. We would ask you to please tell all your
friends about ANN and let the people that you do business with, in
the aviation world, know that sponsoring ANN is a great way to
assure flyers access to an incredible aero-asset that informs,
educates, entertains and protects all involved in aviation. We
have some huge plans for the next year, in particular, and
increased sponsor support is going to be the key to bringing you
some INTENSELY cool new features and capabilities ASAP.
The Annual April 1st Edition is a team effort and we fielded the
best yet, in 2004. Some very fine work done by ANN Editor-In-Chief
Jim Campbell, ANN Editor Pete Combs, Art Weiss, and our most valued
contributors, Wes Oleszewski, Alan Pike, Juan Jimenez, Kevin
O'Brien, Aleta Vinas, and some REALLY great ANN readers who sent us
some TRULY good ideas, photos, and suggestions. I said it before,
but I gotta say it again... Ya'll are some very warped people...
and we appreciate it.
But then again.... it's only 363 days till we do it all again.
Just wait til 2005! We get weirder EVERY Year.
