Girls With Wings Scholarship Deadline Fast Approaching

Programs Include Private Pilot And Dreams Take Flight

The deadline for applying for summer scholarships from Girls with Wings is just around the corner. The organization is offering assistance for girls who wish to learn to fly.

Girls With Wings has traditionally offered a Private Pilot Scholarship to help defray the cost of flight training lessons in pursuit of a private pilot certificate. This scholarship is targeting those individuals who have soloed but have not completed the Private Pilot Course.  The Private Pilot Scholarship is an award in the amount of $1000.00.

In addition, the new, second scholarship offered by Girls With Wings is the Dreams Take Flight Scholarship. This scholarship is designed to introduce the world of aviation to someone who has dreams of a career in aviation and who would benefit from experiencing the joy of flight. The award of this scholarship is intended to fund introductory flight training to encourage achievement of a stated goal, whether as a pilot or in another field of study in aviation.  There is no prerequisite flight training required for this scholarship, just enthusiasm and the desire to learn. The Dreams Take Flight Scholarship is an award in the amount of $500.00.

The deadline for applying for the scholarships is June 30th, and one of the requirements is to write an essay and post it to the Girls with Wings blog, so time is of the essence.

The essay for the Private Pilot scholarship must clearly delineate the applicant’s plan for pursuing a private pilot’s certificate as well as reasons and vision for becoming a role model for the Girls With Wings organization. The essay should also describe the motivation and inspiration for involvement in aviation. Any achievements and participation in other organizations and related events should be discussed in the essay. Financial need and how the scholarship would improve your ability to obtain a private pilot’s certificate should be covered in the essay.

For the Dreams Take Flight scholarship, the essay must discuss your personal dream for your future in aviation and how this goal will be accomplished as well as reasons and vision for becoming a role model for the Girls With Wings organization. The essay should describe the motivation and inspiration for your chosen career path and your involvement in Girls With Wings. Any achievements and participation in other organizations and related events should be discussed in the essay. Financial need and how the scholarship award would assist your ability to make your dreams come true should also be covered in the essay.
