Individuals Recognized At NBAA Leadership Conference
The first two individuals to receive
the National Business Aviation Association’s (NBAA's)
inaugural Donald A. Baldwin Sr. Business Aviation Management
Scholarship were recognized on February 19 during the NBAA
Leadership Conference, held this week in New Orleans, LA.
The scholarship is to be given annually in coordination with the
family of the late Donald A. Baldwin Sr., and is designed to
benefit individuals seeking to become NBAA Certified Aviation
Managers (CAMs). Baldwin, an accomplished general aviation pilot,
was a member of NBAA's Board of Directors from 1968 to 1971. He
also received the NBAA John P. "Jack" Doswell Award in 1992 and the
Flight Safety Foundation Business Aviation Meritorious Service
Award in 1991.
The recipients of the 2009 Baldwin Scholarship are as
follows:
Thomas L. Kimbrough, a Citation captain with SIG Aviation in
Goldsboro, NC. Kimbrough previously served that company as a pilot,
mechanic and FBO manager and now is looking for opportunities to
expand his depth of management education. With the technical skills
he possesses, he plans to obtain CAM certification as the next
logical step in his business aviation career plans.
Darren S. Wilson, also a Citation captain with SIG Aviation out
of Goldsboro, NC. Wilson wants to obtain CAM certification to
further his career plans, demonstrate his aviation knowledge and
qualifications, and prepare for increased responsibility.
The Baldwin Scholarship is one of several scholarships NBAA
offers to promote professional development and business aviation
careers.
