And iPad Gets Another App
By Dan Billingsley
Access for all is the driving force behind Jeppesen's training
team as they strive to help students be more successful. A
staggering 75% of the students that begin flight instruction either
fail or don't complete the training, and Jeppesen is out to change
that statistic with what they call "Complete Training
Solutions."
Jeppesen's David Wright
"It is now easier at every level for students to get into
flying. From the flight school to the consumer student," said
Jeppesen's David Wright, Senior manager, Training Solutions, at a
Thursday news conference. Partnering with flight schools as well as
on-line curriculum are two avenues they have taken. Several on-line
courses have been included such as Private Pilot Online, Sport
Pilot Online, and Instrument Pilot to name a few. Along with the
complete training, Jeppesen offers all the student supplies that
may be needed. And when it comes to working with schools, they will
custom tailor the system to meet your needs.
Also rolled out at the Thursday news conference was the Jeppesen
Mobile TC (Terminal Chart) to be used as an App on the Apple iPad.
The Mobile TC is now ready for download online and will provide a
paperless alternative to carrying all those terminal charts. It is,
however, not intended to be used for navigation but more for
searching and viewing. The program will provide the pilot with
another tool for a clean flight deck environment.
It was said that subscription customers of the Jepp View
Electronic navigation service will have access to this Mobile TC at
no additional charge. Be looking for additional things to be added
to the iPad platform as Jeppesen continues to listen to their
customer requests.
