FAA Issues STC To Aerocet For Kodiak Floats

Carbon Fiber Floats Aproved For The Quest Kodiak 100 Airplane

The FAA issued a Supplemental Type Certificate on August 26 to Priest River, ID-based Aerocet for Aerocet model 6650 amphibious floats equipped on the Quest Kodiak 100.

The company said in a news relase that the lightweight Carbon composite floats eliminate leaks and corrosion typically associated with aluminum floats, thus substantially reducing maintenance time & costs especially for salt or brackish water operations.

Aerocet incorporated their patented Oil-Bath Wheels for both 6.00-6 dual mains and a 5.00-5 single nose wheel on the 6650’s, virtually eliminating bearing maintenance. They also use  Aerocet’s advanced Landing gear advisory system, "granting pilots a leading edge product in safety and efficiency," the company said. Each float also incorporates three large storage lockers for loading versatility.
