Minneapolis Airport Fails Multiple Security Tests

Contraband Gets Through Almost All The Time, According To Reports

TSA agents at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport failed the majority of security tests conducted there last week, according to reports.

A team of government undercover agents posing as passengers, known as a "Red Team", went through security at the airport with contraband items that should have easily been caught, according to a report from television station KMSP. In 17 of 18 tries, the items got through. They included fake explosives, weapons and drugs.

Two sources told the station that the test was discontinued when the failure rate reached 95 percent.

The station reached out to TSA about the tests. The agency said in a statement that it could not "confirm or deny the results of internal tests and condemns the release of any information that could compromise our nation’s security.”

The station learned about the tests as the Independence Day holiday was getting underway, when travel records were expected to be broken across the country.
