Pratt & Whitney Offers PW4000 94 Advantage Performance Upgrade Package

Company Says Mods Reduce Fuel Burn And Operating Costs

Pratt & Whitney said at the Singapore Air Show last week it will offer an Advantage Performance Upgrade package for the PW4000 94" family of engines that will deliver 1% fuel burn reduction and improve engine durability. Other benefits of the package include lower greenhouse gas emissions, lower gas exhaust temperature and increased time on wing.

Following the successful entry into service of the PW4000 Advantage70 engine for the Airbus A330 aircraft, Pratt & Whitney will leverage service-proven technologies, improvements made to High Pressure Turbine (HPT) and High Pressure Compressor (HPC) modules to deliver the PW4000 94" Advantage Performance Upgrade benefits. "The upgrade will be available second quarter 2010, and it will offer PW4000 94" operators benefits to reduce costs while also improving environmental and operational performance," said Andy Tanner, vice president, Product Line Management, Pratt & Whitney. "The Advantage Performance Upgrade package can be incorporated during a performance restoration shop visit."
