Down Comanche Located In Texas

CAP Joined Search For Airplane Which Disappeared From Radar

A Piper Comanche (similar airplane pictured) which failed to arrive at its Norman, OK destination Monday night has been located in Shackelford County, TX. Neither person on board the aircraft reportedly survived the accident.

The Texas Civil Air Patrol began the search for the aircraft Monday night at the request of The Air Force Rescue Coordination Center (AFRCC) at Tyndall AFB, FL. In a news release, the TXCAP said the airplane was enroute to Norman from Abilene, TX. ATC gave its last known position as just south of Albany, TX when it radar contact was lost about 1930 CST.

The Internet site for The Oklahoman reports that the airplane was located mid-morning CDT six miles northwest of Albany, TX. FAA records indicate that the 1960 model Comanche was owned by Baga Air Inc. of Wilmington, DE.
