Receives FAA Type Certification
The Federal Aviation
Administration granted type certification to Cessna's Model 525
Citation CJ1+ Monday morning, keeping the program on schedule and
bringing the aircraft one step closer to customer delivery.
Certification was awarded in just over 200 flights and 400 flight
hours, spanning eleven months.
"Receiving certification on the CJ1+ is a culmination of a very
important partnership between our customers and our employees,"
said Jack J. Pelton, Cessna's Chairman, President and CEO. "Cessna
team members utilized their expertise and innovation to integrate
our customers' feedback and transform the CJ1, an airplane with
established excellence, into the CJ1+. The CJ1+ will, in many
instances, continue the tradition of being the first jet many
operators own, and we look forward to providing new Citation family
members with the latest generation of this proud line."
The Citation CJ1+ offers more performance, new integrated
avionics, enhanced cabin features and expanded standard equipment
as compared to the CJ1. The Citation CJ1+ is powered by the new
Williams' FJ44-1AP dual-channel FADEC-controlled engine. At 41,000
feet, the CJ1+ can travel more than 20 kts faster than the CJ1. In
addition, a 100-pound gross weight increase of the CJ1+ allows it
to carry more payload over greater distances. NBAA IFR range with
single pilot and three passengers is 1,285 nm. CJ1+ takeoff
distance is 3,260 feet and landing distance is 2,590 feet.

The standard Citation CJ1+ Collins Pro Line 21 avionics package is
nearly identical to the system offered on the new Citation CJ2+ and
Citation CJ3 models. It features a standard configuration of three
8-inch by 10-inch active matrix color liquid-crystal displays, two
air data computers, file server system with cursor control panel
and enhanced map overlays, Pro Line 21 CNS radios, broadcast
weather, and Collins FMS-3000 with performance database. Optional
CJ1+ avionics equipment includes electronic charts showing
geo-referenced aircraft position on airport diagrams, interactive
graphical weather, and Honeywell Mark VIII EGPWS.
The five-place interior of the CJ1+ received substantial
upgrades. Cessna's standard CJ1+ features now include a left-hand
belted flushing toilet, deluxe refreshment center, led indirect
lighting, and over-water life vests.
The Citation CJ1+ also takes advantage of the interior design
advancements of Cessna's larger Citations. For instance, the CJ1+
will have Cessna's new one-piece cockpit overhead lining. This
overhead lining was first introduced on the Citation Sovereign.
Compared to the Citation CJ1, the Citation CJ1+ offers customers
17 once-optional features as standard and 10 brand new features.
Some of these standard CJ1+ features include a copilot PFD,
integrated flight management system (FMS), broadcast graphical
weather, Skywatch HP TCAS I, and Landmark TAWS. In addition to an
expanded standard features equipment list, the CJ1+ is also
equipped with many additional features previously not available on
the CJ1, such as integrated avionics, FMS performance database,
FADEC engines, electronic checklist, and a maintenance diagnostic
system.
The Citation CJ1+ is the successor to Cessna's CitationJet and
Citation CJ1 fleet, which exceeds 550 aircraft and has logged over
975,000 hours. The first Citation CJ1+ delivery is expected in the
fourth quarter of 2005.
