WingX Pro7 Adds Enhanced ADS-B Traffic And Altitude-Based Weather

Company Says Android Version 'Coming Soon'

The latest release of Hilton Software's WingX Pro 7 includes ADS-B traffic and altitude-based weather to the popular app.

WingX Pro7 was the first major EFB app to introduce both ADS-B weather and ADS-B traffic to your iPad. Now we have taken it a step further. Knowing where the traffic is located is the first step in seeing that traffic. Knowing what type of aircraft to look for is also important.

Many accidents and close calls have been attributed to a pilot seeing and finding an aircraft that was not the one that they were looking for. "Traffic is in sight" doesn't necessarily mean "The specific traffic that I was looking for is in sight".

By adding a little magic into the ADS-B code, ADS-B traffic information has been enhanced to display the type of aircraft or the airline name. Knowing to look for a "Piper PA-28-181", "Boeing 757", or "Spirit 419" is a critical piece of information for effective see-and-avoid.

WingX Pro7's new Enhanced ADS-B Traffic is a free upgrade.

WingX Pro7 overlays superb static and animated weather graphics on the moving map. Now you can 'drill-down' within the graphics to display Current Icing Potential (CIP) and Supercooled Large Droplet (SLD) Icing as well as Turbulence at specific altitudes. Based on this information your decision on the best cruise altitude for your flight can be selected prior to takeoff.

The best altitude can be a combination of turbulence, icing potential and winds aloft which in turn affect passenger comfort, time enroute, fuel required, terrain avoidance, and a possible change in an alternate airport. It is much less stressful and safer to make this decision on the ground and not after encountering adverse condition in the air.

WingX Pro7 provides a simple slider to select the altitude.  In seconds, you will have a much better understanding of the weather in the 3D world in which you'll be flying.

Both the Enhanced ADS-B Traffic and Altitude-Based Weather Graphics are free upgrades.

Meanwhile, the company says that an Android version of WingX Pro 7 is "coming soon", along with additional updates.
