While at the AOPA 2013 convention, ANN CEO and Editor-in-Chief, Jim Campbell talks with Robert Hamilton, president of Dynon on avionics. The topic today is the coolest little instrument out there called the Dynon D2 Pocket EFIS.
The D2 Pocket EFIS is a continuation of the original D1 design. Added features on the D2 are that it’s Wi-Fi capable; its output can be connected to an iPad or other form of tablet, and the addition of a G meter to the indicator. Jim asked Hamilton how they came up with the idea of a small portable EFIS. His answer was simple, people asked for it. Hamilton said that before they gave it an official name, it was called the Velcro EFIS around the engineering department.
Hamilton explains and demonstrates the model D1 and D2 pocket EFIS. If you haven’t seen one of these things in action you’ve got to watch this video…it’s sooo cool!
