iFlightPlanner Announces Release Date For iPad App

Cooperation Between Companies Helps Pilots Realize An Integrated, Flexible Flight Planning Experience

iFlightPlanner.com says that an integrated flight planning application specifically designed for use on the Apple iPad and iPad 2 will be available next month.

iFlightPlanner for iPad, which is fully integrated with iFlightPlanner.com, will be available as a free download in the Apple iTunes Store in October. Sennheiser and iFlightPlanner.com previewed the application during Oshkosh AirVenture 2011 last July.

iFlightPlanner for iPad is part of a comprehensive flight planning solution which enables pilots to plan their flights independent of where they are and what device they are using – bringing the aviation community one step closer to realizing full cockpit integration.

With one touch, iFlightPlanner for iPad enables pilots to not only plan their flights but to seamlessly sync all data from their iFlightPlanner.com account. This integrated approach provides pilots the ability to efficiently plan flights from their home desktop, laptop or any web browser and instantly access flight information from their iPad. Once downloaded, pilots may view flight details, including navigation logs, VFR and IFR charts, as well as approach plates while in flight and without a data connection. After landing, iFlightPlanner for iPad allows pilots to electronically close their flight plans and automatically log their flight details into their iFlightPlanner.com logbook.

"We are very excited about iFlightPlanner for iPad and it's integration with iFlightPlanner.com,” commented Andy Matthews, co-founder and director of business development, iFlightPlanner.com.  “Sennheiser Aviation has allowed us to create a unique flight planning environment that will give pilots unprecedented access to our intuitive suite of flight planning tools, enabling them to plan more efficiently and fly safer."

In addition to route planning, certified weather briefs, weight and balance calculations and filing of VFR and IFR flight plans, iFlightPlanner.com also offers pilots:

  • Seamless VFR and IFR charts complete with hi-res weather imagery on Google Maps.
  • Detailed navigation logs containing forecasted winds, temperatures, fuel burn, and ETAs.
  • Comprehensive Airport/Facility Directory with airport diagrams, procedure plates, & business listings.
  • Integrated digital logbook that allows pilots to maintain online records of their flights.
  • Searchable Flight Instructor Directory providing CFIs opportunities to build their student base.
