Sukhoi Superjet 100 Undergoing Additional Hot Soak Trials

Testing Being Conducted In The United Arab Emirates

The Sukhoi Superjet 100 flight prototype SN95005 landed at Ras al-Khaimah (UAE) August 4th to undergo hot soak trails (above +40C). The month-long test program includes extensive ground testing of the engines, APUs, and avionics as well as check flights. The aircraft is equipped with special detecting devices to register the aircraft temperature in different zones.

Ground hot soak trials are aimed at proving the ability of the aircraft, its systems and avionics to resist against temperature shock. These tests are designed to confirm reliable APU and engine start-up and operation at high outside air temperature even after extended periods on the ground. In addition, the composite airframe will be subjected to testing to demonstrate its heat tolerance.

Check flights are aimed at confirming stated takeoff and landing performances as well as stable engines operation in steady and variable modes of operation. The test program also includes the performance of the continued takeoff, single-engine go-around, and relight in flight.
