Rockefeller Tells House Colleagues To Pass 'Clean' FAA Bill

Current Continuing Resolution Runs Out September 16

Senate Commerce Committee Chair John D. (Jay) Rockefeller IV (D-WV) (pictured) has made the opening salvo in what has become a traditional war of dueling statement and news releases concerning funding for the FAA. Rockefeller issued a statement Thursday urging the House of Representatives to approve a 'clean' extension of the FAA before the agency’s funding runs out on September 16th.

“The clock is ticking down to September 16th and we have not made enough progress to achieve bipartisan agreement for passage of an FAA reauthorization package,” said Rockefeller.  “I hope the House will pass a clean extension of funds for the FAA so Congress can focus on negotiating a compromise FAA deal, not wasting time and effort fighting over the extension.  Our aviation workforce and infrastructure is far too important to the economy and partisan games should not be part of the FAA extension, as they were in July. Action on a final FAA bill is long overdue and the American people deserve a modern and safe aviation system.”

House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman John Mica (R-FL) has not yet responded.
