B1900 Landing Gear Collapse Closes FLL For Hours

No One Injured In Weekend Incident

Nobody was hurt... but there were a few exciting moments this weekend for passengers aboard a Continental Connection flight from the Bahamas to Fort-Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport in Florida.

FLL spokesman Steve Belleme told the Associated Press there were 23 people on board the Gulfstream International Airlines Beechcraft 1900 regional turboprop (file photo of type, right) when its right landing gear collapsed as the aircraft touched down in Fort Lauderdale Sunday afternoon.

Authorities say the flight crew had gotten a gear unsafe indication as they were landing. Runway 9L/27R was closed for several hours after the incident.

The airline and the FAA are investigating.
