Russian Man Says Schwarzenegger Movie Portrays Him Inaccurately

Was Convicted Of Murdering An Air Traffic Controller He Says Was Responsible For The Death Of His Family

A Russian man whose wife, son and daughter were fatally injured in an aircraft accident and stabbed an air traffic controller to death saying he was responsible for the crash has blasted the movie starring Arnold Schwarzenegger based on the incident.

Vitaly Kaloyev's wife and two children, aged 10 and 4, were aboard an airliner that was involved in a mid-air collision over Germany in 2002 that fatally injured 71 people. Kaloyev tracked down air traffic controller Peter Nielsen and stabbed him to death in the garden of his home, blaming him for the accident.

The U.K. newspaper The Daily Mail reports that Kaloyev is now critical of the movie "Aftermath" based on the incident saying Schwarzenegger is portraying him as a  person "begging for pity" while failing to show how arrogant Neilson was regarding the accident.

Kaloyev was sentenced to eight years in prison on Switzerland for the murder, but was released in 2007, according to the report. He later said he should not have been sent to prison because of his mental state.

The Russian says the film portrays Nielsen as a "victim of circumstance", while Schwarzenegger portrays him as "constantly begging for pity." He told the Sputnik Ossetia news agency "I don't want anyone's pity."

He also says the film glosses over how he was offered a settlement of 160,000 Swiss francs by the Swiss air navigation firm Skyguide for the death of his family.
