Standing On Its Own... ATG’s Javelin

Aviation Technology Group, Inc. is pleased to offer a glimpse into another milestone for the Javelin demonstrator prototype. Currently in final assembly, the aircraft was lowered down off the assembly jacks and onto its own landing gear, Friday.

“What a fantastic milestone for the Javelin program,” said George Bye, CEO of ATG. “We now look forward to the next steps and progress towards first flight.”

In addition to the Javelin standing on its own; the side panels on the main structure have been installed permanently. Functional testing has been done on the fuel system and preliminary air and fluid checks are finished. The hinges on the canopy system have been installed and the latch mechanism is in process of completion. The aileron and flap control system are finalized and operational. The rudder and pitch systems are complete to the aft body. Preliminary testing of the electrical system, avionics and flight test instrumentation has been completed to support the upcoming systems functional testing. Major structural testing will be done the week of April 18th. Engines will be permanently installed and final electrical, avionics and flight test instrumentation functional testing will be completed the following week.

The Javelin Demonstrator prototype will be used to evaluate aircraft performance, handling qualities, and selected system installations. The results of this testing will be assessed and changes made as necessary for incorporation into the FAA-certified production Javelin. The taxi tests of the Javelin prototype are scheduled to happen in the next few weeks.
