Diamond Aircraft Defies Trend In Declining Piston Sales

Posts Year-Over-Year Sales Growth Of 17%; Market Fell 6% In Same Period

Never a company to follow established trends, Diamond Aircraft tells ANN it posted strong year-over-year sales growth of 17%, according to numbers released last week by the General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA).

As ANN reported, GAMA also noted the piston market overall was down by six percent over the same time period.

"We believe that our strength in this weaker piston market is due to the unique positioning of our brand and family of aircraft," said Heike Larson, Vice President of Sales and Marketing. "Diamond defines innovation and good fuel economy, and offers an exciting line of aircraft, making it easy for our customers to start out with a DA40, the best first aircraft, and move up our line all the way to the D-Jet.

"We also see more and more flight training organizations take advantage of our line-up, which enables them to achieve fleet consistency with modern, fuel-efficient aircraft, from 2-place trainers to light twins, including type-specific Flight Training Devices, offered by our sister company, Diamond Simulation," Larson continued.

Deliveries of both the DA40 Diamond Star and the DA42 Twin Star were up by double digits, according to Diamond.
