FAA Grants STC For New 3-blade MT-Propeller For Rockwell Commander 114 Aircraft

Installation Previously Certified By EASA

The FAA has granted an STC to MT-Propeller for the installation of its next generation 3-blade scimitar composite propeller MTV-9-B/198-52 on Rockwell Commander 114, 114A, 114B, 114TC aircraft powered by Lycoming IO-540-T4A5D, IO-540-T4B5D, IO-540-T4B5 and TIO-540-AG1A engines. This installation is already certified by EASA.

MT-Propeller President Gerd Muehlbauer said  that according to the certification flight tests the new 3-blade propeller installation on the Rockwell Commander 114, 114A, 114B, 114TC reduces ground roll & takeoff distance over 50 ft obstacle by 98ft and increases climb performance slightly.

No engine modification is necessary for the installation of the MTV-9.

Muehlbauer said cruise is very smooth and there is no speed penalty. The propeller weighs about 17,6 lbs less than the original 3-blade metal propeller.

The MT-Propeller natural composite blades provide significant inside and outside noise reduction for a "jetlike" vibration and noise signature, according to Muehlbauer. They have no life limitation and are repairable. They also provide best vibration damping characteristics for almost vibration free propeller operation and have bonded on stainless steel leading edges for superior erosion protection of the blades, he said.
