Establishes Presence On GoFundMe For New Drone Racing Area
A startup drone racing club in Homosassa, FL has what the group says is the first designated drone racing space in the state and they are now working towards making it a place where they can hold events in the growing sport.
Citrus Drone Racing is affiliated with MultiGP. They have established a presence on the crowdfunding site GoFundMe in an effort to raise $1,000 towards their effort.
The page was established by Mike James. "We are a small group of FPV pilots, and we are trying to raise funds to go towards a few thing of many that we will need to host events. Things like a timing system for races, and a trailer to store and transport all of our equipment, such as gates, tables, canopies, chairs etc.," he wrote on the page.
"Our goal is to involve people from the community to come out, have fun and do what we love to do. Our events will be held weekly/bi-weekly. Everyone is welcome to come out and enjoy yourself whether it's racing or coming with your kids to fly their drone. The park is big enough for everyone.
"We plan on fundraising at all of our events, to keep them going year round. The biggest set back at this moment it having the tools to do so. There is much more to do and we are willing to go the rest of the way and beyond. We just need help from our fpv community. The FPV community is huge if everyone able to donate a $1 we would reach our goal in no time. With that being said we will appreciate every donation, no donation is too small!"
The campaign is off to a slow start, having received pledges for just $10 in its first six days.
