Major Contracts And Collaboration Agreements 'Confirm' Airbus' Commitment To Reinforcing Opportunities With Russia
Airbus’ participation at Russia's MAKS Airshow was marked not only by the magnificent A380 which performed daily flying displays and was present all day in the static park, but also by several important agreements with the Russian partners which strengthen Airbus cooperation in the region. Airbus and VSMPO-AVISMA Corporation, major titanium supplier for Airbus, signed a Memorandum of Understanding at the show to further develop strategic collaboration covering joint study of new alloys, rough machining, and the extension of Airbus’ product portfolio as well as recycling of titanium.
Airbus and S7 Engineering, a leading maintenance and repair facility in Russia, signed an agreement to develop an A320 maintenance training partnership in Russia. This partnership will allow S7 Engineering to acquire Airbus’ standards and skills and later to conduct maintenance training for the company’s in-house specialists and also for Russian airlines in their own language to Airbus’ standards.
Airbus said another "breakthrough" agreement was signed between Airbus and RT-Biotekhprom (Rostec Group) to launch a large-scale analysis of Russian feedstock, and to accelerate the development and commercialization of sustainable fuels for aviation. The companies will become pioneers in sustainable fuels in Russia.
Additionally, Moscow State Technical University of Civil Aviation and Airbus signed a cooperation agreement to launch Airbus education lecture courses for students to learn about modern aircraft maintenance and technical aeronautical topics.
One of the major events for Airbus at the show was also a ceremony to mark the delivery of the 500th ship-set of the nose landing gear bay for the A320 Family from Airbus’ Russian partner Irkut Corporation. The ceremony took place next to a real Airbus nose landing gear.
Airbus also held the Grand Finale of its education project “Airbus Academy” run in cooperation with two aviation schools in Zhukovsky and in the presence of Mayor of Zhukovsky City. Three winners, whose aviation research was the most in-depth, were awarded with a trip to Airbus’ Headquarters in Toulouse.
