Classic Aero-TV: Camp AMA - Where Tomorrow’s Aviators Get Started

From 2019 (YouTube Version): A Week-Long Program Open To Young People Ages 13-19

The Academy of Model Aeronautics offers a lot of programs designed to foster interest in model aviation. One of those is Camp AMA, a week-long summer camp program at the organization's headquarters in Muncie, IN.

According to the AMA website, the cost of the camp includes instruction time, meals, lodging, and nighttime activities. Campers will get the chance to work personally with some of the best RC pilots in the world, including Nick Maxwell, Andrew Jesky, AC Glenn, and RJ Gritter. The AMA Youth Ambassadors will help the campers work on techniques, as well as show the kids a few flight demonstrations. Instructors will use their expertise to train and teach the campers in all aspects of RC.

Along with all of the flying that the campers will get to do on and off of the field, they will also get to tour the National Model Aviation Museum and AMA Headquarters. The week is spent learning about model aviation and building lifelong friendships with other RC pilots from all over the nation.

For 2019, the camp is scheduled for June 9-15.
