Pilatus Expands Service In Eastern USA

Pilatus Aircraft Expands East Side Maintenance & Support

Pilatus Aircraft Ltd, a Swiss manufacturer of the popular PC- line of aircraft such as the PC-6, -12 and -24 has announced its takeover of Skytech Inc, a U.S.-based independent authorized sales and service center for Pilatus aircraft since 1993.

The financial aspects of the deal has not been publicized, but Skytech Inc, in business since 1976, has operated its sales, maintenance, and repair facilities in Baltimore Maryland and Rock Hill in South Carolina for most of its existence, and both companies have worked together over the years.

Pilatus Aircraft has enjoyed significant success in recent years, having carved out a niche with its best-selling single-engine PC-12 private jets with the Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6 turboprop engines that are easily at home on a 3,000ft runway or an unimproved one (within reason of course)! And for a few dollars more, some competition for the Embraer EMB Phenom 300/300E, and the Cessna 525C Citation CJ4 in the form of the PC-24 with the Williams FJ44 two-spool turbofan engines.

Pilatus’s takeover of Skytech is a logical one as it will provide a footprint on the north- and south-east corridor of the USA and complement its Colorado subsidiary in the western USA. It was announced that the Skytech brand/name will live on and maintain its identity, and that the staff will continue to operate as usual, including current Skytech Inc CEO Justin Lazzeri who will continue on with other Skytech Inc employees. Pilatus stated that they will “use the acquisition of Skytech to ensure and further improve the continuity and quality of its award-winning customer services on the East Coast of the USA”. Mr. Marcus Bucher, CEO of Pilatus acknowledged that “the US market is very important for us. It is essential that Pilatus continues to expand its ‘footprint’. Through this acquisition, we aim to live up to our claim: ‘We create the Pilatus Class!’ I’m delighted to have the company and its staff on board with us”
