Approved For Inspection Authorization Renewal Credits
An Operations & Flight Line Maintenance Course offered by ICG (International Communications Group, Inc.) for its NxtLink ICS-120A/220A satellite communications devices has been approved by the FAA for Inspection Authorization (IA) Renewal Training. The 14-hour course will allow authorized inspectors to use 8 hours toward renewing his or her accreditation.
The course, which encompasses two days, includes a day of classroom style instruction and a second day of hands-on training in ICG’s Customer Support lab. The course is held quarterly at ICG’s Newport News, Virginia location. Attendance is free of charge to current ICG customers in good standing. Others wishing to register for the training should contact training@icg.aero for availability and fee details.
“This course is aimed at avionics engineers and maintenance staff directly involved in the installation and use of data link and flight deck communications devices,” noted Bruce Bell, ICG Technical Support Manager. “It covers the full spectrum of relevant information on the operation, setup, troubleshooting and fault isolation of the ICS 120A/220A Iridium Communications system which is an integral part of the Future Air Navigation System (FANS 1/A). Mandates requiring FANS capabilities for transoceanic flight will undoubtedly increase the demand for this type of equipment on a variety of airframes, and that will undoubtedly increase the interest and participation in this course,” he added.
ICG will offer the course three more times in 2014: June 11-12; September 8-9 (in conjunction with ICG’s sixth annual NxtLink Communications Conference); and December 3-4. All sessions will take place in Newport News. A Certificate of Completion is issued to all attendees who successfully complete the course.
