Congressman Todd Tiahrt (R-KS) (pictured, right) will address the Congressional perspective of the current status and future challenges facing the aviation industry, as well as the importance of R&D and the KC-X tanker competition, at the National Aeronautic Association (NAA) luncheon on Thursday, June 24, 2010.

Congressman Tiahrt (R-Goddard) began serving the 4th District of Kansas in Congress in 1995. Tiahrt was appointed to the powerful House Appropriations Committee in 1997 and currently serves as the Senior Republican on the Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies.

In addition to his leadership assignment on the House Appropriations Committee, Tiahrt served four years on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence from 2005-2008 at the request of the Speaker of the House and Republican Leadership. He is also a former member of the Board of Visitors for the U.S. Military Academy at West Point that provides advice on academics and academy life issues.

Before his service in Congress, he was employed by the Boeing Company in Wichita for nearly 14 years, where he worked on various aerospace projects including the Space Station, Air Force One and the Comanche Helicopter.
