Unwelcome TFR Ending... Will End At 0830 ET, Monday

ANN RealTime Update, 10.29.12 0728 ET: NBAA is notifying one and all that President Obama intends to depart Orlando at 8:30 a.m. ET today, instead of participating in an anticipated campaign visit in the city.

Although the FAA will not issue a new Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) regarding the change, operators can expect that the TFR that had been put in place for Orlando-area airports will be removed shortly after the president departs, and therefore, all flights into and out of Orlando-area airports are expected to operate as usual.

"We understand that the president's cancelation is related to considerations regarding Hurricane Sandy's impact on the East Coast," said NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen. "NBAA and the business aviation community are likewise concerned about those people who may be in the storm's path, and our thoughts and prayers are with them at this time."

Original Report,10.28.12, 0955 ET: Good news! The FAA, late Sunday evening, issued an updated Notice to Airmen (NOTAM), advising that President Obama intends to shorten his campaign visit to Orlando. The president still arrived Sunday evening, October 28, as previously scheduled; however, he will now depart Orlando, EARLY, at 12:30 p.m. ET October 29, about two-and-a-half hours earlier than scheduled.

The changes to the president's travel plans are expected to prompt adjustments to the duration of the Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) in place for his stop, the operational hours for the "gateway" airports that have been established to accommodate air traffic, and other aspects of the aviation planning in conjunction with the visit.

As always, it is imperative that anyone planning to fly into Orlando airports via general aviation on October 28 or October 29 thoroughly review the current NOTAM available on the Association's web site to obtain the latest information regarding air traffic in the area.

The adjustments to the president's travel are being made in anticipation of the impact Hurricane Sandy is expected to have on the East Coast.
