Three Named The Board Of The Organization

Airlink, a charity focused on mobilizing the aviation industry to ensure assistance reaches communities impacted by disasters and other humanitarian crises around the world, recently added three new members to its board of trustees.

New trustees Niklas Lund (pictured), president of Rockton, George Fenton, chairman and executive director of the Humanitarian Logistics Network, and Mylène Scholnick, senior advisor of ICF join 12 other volunteers governing the organization.

“We are thrilled these highly respected business leaders have joined our board,” said Bob Brown, chair, Airlink Board of Trustees. “Their passion for Airlink and unique expertise will help our organization as we strive to help more people and communities recovering from crises.”

Niklas Lund is president of Stockholm-based commercial aircraft investment firm Rockton. Lund has over 30 years of experience in the finance and aviation markets both as principal and advisor, including six years with a public aircraft leasing company, first as CFO and later as CEO. His earlier experience includes corporate finance with the investment bank Alfred Berg in Stockholm and Oslo, and various positions within FinansSkandic, part of the SEB Group.

“Airlink is a prime example of how one can leverage the knowledge and network of their industry to serve unfortunate communities exposed to disasters. Both the organization and its supporters show a great compassion and devotion for this quest and I am delighted to be able to support that movement from the board now,” said Niklas Lund.  

George Fenton (pictured) is chairman and CEO of the Humanitarian Logistics Association (HLA). The membership association forges alliances between aid organizations and the private, public, and academic sectors to ensure effective disaster responses. Fenton has worked for the United Nations and several of the world’s largest non-governmental organizations as a senior executive, leading the development of new technologies, developing national supply chain capacity, and managing key relationships with a broad range of stakeholders. He has recently been involved in several UN and donor initiatives on disaster preparedness, response, and logistics.

“I am an ardent collaborator and connector and during my overseas career have developed a passion for developing effective cross-sector engagement. I see my appointment to the Airlink board as a fantastic opportunity to use my skills, experience, and connections to help build the organization’s capabilities to support responses to global crises,” said George Fenton.

Mylène Scholnick is a senior advisor at aviation consulting firm ICF. Scholnick’s expertise includes commercial aviation finance and asset management, sales and marketing, and global business development. She held senior positions with SkyWorks Capital, Lenoma, and NetJets and was the founder and managing director of MetroJet in Hong Kong. She serves on the advisory board of architectural, engineering, and construction services firm McKissak & McKissack. Scholnick’s volunteer work includes past service as president of the International Aviation Womens Association where she currently serves on the advisory board.

“I am very pleased to start serving on the Airlink board and bring my wide network of relationships in airlines, aerospace, aviation finance, and business to a non-profit organization involved in saving lives and helping communities recover from disasters and humanitarian crises,” said Mylène Scholnick (pictured). “I am hoping to make a contribution to the growth of Airlink and increase the role of the aviation industry in giving back as it will result in faster responses to those in need.”

Since its inception, Airlink has transported more than 5,000 relief personnel and three million pounds of emergency supplies for its 80 relief organization partners responding to hurricanes, earthquakes, floods, and other crises.
