Passenger Had A Beef With The Beef
We're not quite sure where to begin with this one. A Maryland
man was arrested Sunday at Kennedy Airport, after allegedly hitting
a flight attendant after she told him there were no more chicken
dinners available on his flight from Zurich -- and that he'd have
to settle for the beef.
The New York Daily News reports Pierre Delis, 36, was flying
home from visiting relatives in Switzerland when the fracas took
place. American Airlines Flight 65 was about 90 minutes into its
transatlantic voyage when meal service began... and Delis was told,
despite his request for a chicken dinner, there was only beef to be
had.
Air marshal Matthew Lloyd said Delis "became exceedingly irate
and and began yelling and swearing" before he stood up, and punched
the flight attendant.
Another flight attendant and two passengers restrained Delis,
reminding him perhaps that resorting to violence is no way to get
your meal. Police met the flight when it landed in New York... and
a criminal complaint was filed against Delis in Brooklyn Federal
Court.
The flight attendant was treated at an area hospital for
bruising and swelling related to the, well, sucker-punch she
received.
The Daily News adds at Delis' arraignment hearing, defense
lawyer Florian Meidel asked the court to tell officers to feed his
client -- as Delis hadn't had anything to eat since Sunday. Wisely,
Meidel did not say if his client had a meal preference.
We're guessing there's really no choice in jail.
