CSF Congratulates Chairman Alan Stern On His Honor From The RAS

Has Been Named An Honorary Fellow In The Royal Astronomical Society

CSF congratulates Alan Stern on his induction into the Royal Astronomical Society (RAS). His inclusion as an Honorary Fellow in the RAS was marked on Friday, November 10, 2017 after a formal announcement was made in 2015.

The position of Honorary Fellow honors individuals who do not hold citizenship within the United Kingdom for their service to astronomical science through distinguished leadership.

The RAS was founded in 1820 to further the fields of astronomy, solar-system science, geophysics, and other related branches of science. The society is renowned as a global thought leader on international research, publications and representation at  national and international organizations, in addition to its prestigious recognition of industry-related achievements.

Alan Stern, Chairman of the Board for the Commercial Spaceflight Federation, is being honored by RAS for the exploration of Pluto through his involvement in NASA’s New Horizons Mission.

“Alan’s continued leadership and subject matter expertise is a huge asset to both CSF and the commercial space industry as a whole; we continue to benefit from the many years of dedication and experience he brings to the table” said Eric Stallmer, President of CSF. “We applaud the Royal Astronomical Society’s decision to honor his commitment to advancing our nation’s leadership in space  and offer well-deserved congratulations to Alan on this prestigious recognition.”
