Airline Pilot Accused Of Running A String Of Brothels

UAL Pilot Arrested And Charged In Houston

A pilot for United Airlines has been arrested in Houston and charged with running an illegal prostitution operation that included several apartments with six to 10 women in each, according to court documents.

The piot, 51-year-old Bruce Wayne Wallis, has been charged with aggravated promotion of prostitution and engaging in organized criminal activity, according to a report from USA Today.

Assistant Harris County District Attorney Lester Blizzard told the Houston Chronicle that the operation was "massive ... the largest operation I've ever worked on."  The court records stated that the operation was advertised online.

In all, authorities searched 17 locations and made 12 arrests in connection with the investigation. In a joint statement, the state Department of Public Safety, the Houston police department and the Harris County district attorney's office said "The investigation was worked as a coordinated effort between all three agencies in an effort to combat prostitution and massage brothels in the greater Houston area."

United said it was aware of the charges, and Wallis has "been removed from flight duties" but is still employed by the airline, according to spokesman Charles Hobart.

Wallis is being held in lieu of $15,000 bond, according to court records.
