More TSA Employees Caught Stealing At La Guardia, JFK

Four TSA screeners filmed by surveillance cameras lifting goods from pax bags

Here we go again...

Four TSA screeners assigned to duties at LGA and JFK have been arrested by authorities and charged with theft after surveillance cameras caught them stealing jewelry, watches and other property from passenger baggage.

Clarence Henry, 51 and resident of Brooklyn, was charged with stealing cash, watches and rings from bags sent through screening at the American Airlines terminal during August 4 and August 5 at JFK Airport. Detectives later searched his apartment and found more watches, lighters, pens and miscellaneous items that had been planted by undercover agents who then sent the bags through screening, according to Queens District Attorney Richard Brown.

Three other TSA employees, Jamie Maldonado, 42, of the Bronx; Nelson Caraballo, 41, of Brooklyn; and Carmita Williams, of Brooklyn, were also accused of stealing from passenger bags between May 3 and May 4 at La Guardia. In that instance, Port Authority surveillance cameras caught the trio in the act, according to Brown.

Numerous passenger complaints prompted authorities to set up the sting. Maldonado, Caraballo and Williams were arrested on Wednesday and are awaiting arraignment, while Henry is supposed to appear in court on August 25.
