System Certified For Many Citation V Models
Innovative Solutions & Support(IS&S) said Monday that
Cessna has been granted an FAA supplemental type certification for
the IS&S-developed AdViz flat panel display system now
available for retrofit in some legacy Cessna Citations.
IS&S joined the Cessna team in January 2007, as the flat
panel display system provider for the Cessna AdViz Glass cockpit
retrofit program. The program replaces aging flight instruments on
legacy Citations, resulting in reduced weight, improved
reliability, and access to navigational aids.
The AdViz system is certified for the Cessna Citation 500, 550,
S550, and 560. It is available in two or three 10.4-inch
display unit architectures that provide enhanced situational
awareness, increased functionality, reduced crew workload and
weight savings. Options include e-Charts (Jeppesen), XM
weather and the display of Enhanced Vision Systems and Wide Area
Augmentation System (WAAS).
The first Cessna Citation V retrofitted with the AdViz Flat
Panel Display system completed its initial flight in April,
following two years of development. "The success of this
flight is a great achievement" said Roman Ptakowski, President of
IS&S. "We are pleased to have the opportunity to work
with Cessna Aircraft Company, and look forward to providing pilots
and passengers with this state-of-the-art technology to improve the
efficiency, reliability, and safety of flights."
The AdViz system will initially be available for purchase
through the nine Cessna-owned Citation Service Centers, and will
later be distributed through the Cessna authorized network.
AdViz is based on the IS&S Vantage Cockpit/IP system, an
open architecture flat panel display system that allows operators
to upgrade their aircraft to a glass cockpit while leaving existing
third party avionics installed in the aircraft. This allows
the operator to select the best of breed new equipment and
minimizes the cost and down time of the upgrade.
