Includes AS350B2, Bell 206 And Model 407 Sims
Frasca International tells ANN it recently contracted to sell
FlightSafety International three Level 7 Helicopter Flight Training
Devices (FTDs) to include an AS350B2 FTD, a Bell 206B/206L
reconfigurable FTD and a Bell 407 FTD.
The FTD's will be designed and built for the FAA qualification
of Helicopter FTDS for Level 7 devices. All three units will be
fixed based with a vibration platform which provides tactile cues
related to both normal and emergency operations. The devices will
be integrated to Flight Safety's Vital visual system and will use
Frasca's spherical display screens to provide a 200 X 70 field of
view. Other features will include Frasca's Graphical Instructor
Station (GISt), Digital Electric Control Loading and more.
Aerodynamic data required to support the FTD's Level 7
qualification will be collected by Frasca's flight test department.
This involves instrumenting the aircraft with dozens of sensors and
flying a hundreds of very specific maneuvers. This data is then
used by Frasca's Aero engineering department to precisely model the
aircrafts performance.
"We look forward to receiving these new Frasca advanced
technology flight training devices equipped with FlightSafety's
VITAL visual system," said George Ferito, Director Rotorcraft
Business Development, FlightSafety International. "These new FTDs
will help us to provide high quality, comprehensive and
cost-effective, mission-specific training on a wide variety of twin
and single engine aircraft types."
"Frasca is very excited to work with FlightSafety on this
project, it perfectly fits into our strategic plan for the
direction our company is going - building more advanced devices and
incorporating our latest technology into these devices. We believe
that our investment in technology, our excellent customer service
and the outstanding people in our organization combined to make
this opportunity with FlightSafety happen," said John Frasca, Vice
President of Frasca International, Inc.
The FTDs will be installed at FlightSafety's Helicopter Learning
Center of Excellence in Lafayette, LA. This new Center is schedule
to open by the end of 2008.
